Every applicant must undergo an intensive interview process to assess their suitability to transport people with disabilities.
They also must be licensed taxi drivers who have gained relevant government accreditation to drive disability transport vehicles.
They then undertake a comprehensive four-week driving course and manual handling training.
After all that, they will only be accepted if they possess good communication skills – including the ability to communicate with deaf and blind people.
Drivers also received other trainings relevant to working in the disability field, such as epilepsy training.
